econet organized a Sino-German dialogue on Green Building & Low Carbon City Development in Shenyang


On the occasion of the official opening of the new German Consulate General in Shenyang on October 12th and the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Federal Republic of Germany and the People's Republic of China this year, econet organized its branded salon in Shenyang on October 17th.

This event was greatly supported by the Liaoning Provincial Department of Construction and Shenyang Construction Committee. Mr. Zhao Yaming, director of the science & technology development center of Liaoning Provincial Construction Committee and Mr. Sui Mingyue, vice director of Shenyang Construction Committee, emphasized during their opening speeches how Shenyang has made great efforts in promoting the development of green buildings in recent years. Shenyang green building evaluation standards and its technical details, which have mainly been compiled by the Shenyang Green Building Council and Shenyang Jianzhu University, were put into effect on September 1st of this year.


Ms. Nadine Ulrich, head of econet china, introduced the industry initiative of the German Chamber of Comemrce and its activities which promote Sino-German cooperation for sustainability.

Three subsequent conference panels dealt with questions on how green buildings and low carbon cities can be created and how building envelopes can be optimized. Furthermore, Building Technologies and Renewable Energies were a debated topic of the conference.

Partners of econet china which include Bayer MaterialScience, Bosch Thermotechnology, Knauf, RSAA, Schueco, Sto, TUEV SUED, Wacker and Ytong, presented their views and activities concerning the latest green building solutions and best practices 'made in Germany'. Local experts from Shenyang Jianzhu University and Vanke introduced current developments and goals regarding the city of Shenyang. As a pioneering real estate developer nationwide, Vanke has developed a few residential projects in Shenyang. Each project is designed and constructed to promote green building standards and to be energy efficient.

Following a moderated panel discussion with all the speakers, participants raised a few specific questions concerning product and technology applications. The Q&A session facilitated an interactive communication between speakers and the audience.

The half day conference gathered over 100 participants including decision makers such as construction authorities, technical personnel from Shenyang’s main design institutes and developers, as well as other cities in the Liaoning Province. The aim of the gathering was to define cooperation areas where Germany and China could make use of their complementary assets. Experts from both countries contributed to the discussion and shared measures concerning the development of energy efficient buildings.

The German companies were invited to visit two demonstration projects in Shenyang on October 18th. The residential project Vanke Chun He Li is one of the demonstration projects in the framework of the Shenyang modern building industrialization program that applies pre-fabricated technology and components, which is highly promoted in Shenyang today. The second project, Shenyang Wan Rong Modern Building Industry Park, is located in the Hun Nan Economic Development Zone and covers an area of 22000 s.q.m. Until now, 1.5 billion RMB have been invested to develop production facility for pre-fabricated building components. The localization of design, manufacture and lifting is supposed be achieved by next year.
