-Workshop by econet at German Industry & Commerce Greater China | Shanghai. On November 15th, econet china organized a workshop on the topic of Energy Efficiency in the Industry together with German Industrie & Commerce I Shanghai. In order to provide adequate supply of suitable technologies, and promote German companies as key know how partners for the increasing demand by Chinese and international industry players, econet invited industry partners in the sector of Energy efficiency as well as energy users based within the Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP).

More than 40 selected participants attended the workshop, including technology providers of all areas of energy efficiency in the industry from heat pumps and CHP plants to filtration systems and solar specialists.

One city

Following the welcome address given by Nadine Ulrich, Head of econet china, Wang Haixian, the Project Manager of Arqum introduced the upcoming Energie Efficiency Projects in Suzhou Industrial Park. econet china | German Industry & Commerce Greater China, the Suzhou Industry Park and Arqum started their first Sino-German Energy Efficiency Project within Suzhou Industry Park in June this year, and the first efficiency audits and workshops are scheduled to take place within the next weeks.


All participants then had the opportunity to briefly introduce their company and expectations in an informal round, which provided an excellent overview of the vast range of technologies German companies are already providing in China today, and what the main problems and incentives for heavy energy users within the industry parks are.

After a short coffee break, Matthias Heger, Program Manager at GIZ, introduced the agency’s upcoming project for energy efficiency networks all over China. From 2014, within the framework of the Sino-German Energy Partnership, numerous industry parks all over China will establish these networks together with State Grid ESCOs and thus provide excellent opportunities for German technology providers to directly present their know- how to potential clients through workshops.


The event was concluded through an extensive discussion round around potential business opportunities and financing models for EE projects in China, during which Mr. Heger delivered useful insights into the topic of ESCOs and alternative project setups.
