Circular Economy & Resource Efficiency

Circular Economy & Resource Efficiency

China has taken action to promote a circular economy. German technologies and solutions will help to improve resource efficiency and realize a circular economy.

China’s long-term promotion of a circular economy

High energy consumption, high emission rates and high pollution have urged China to take action to promote a low-carbon economy. Challenges related to  resource efficiency especially involve energy, raw materials and water.

Increasing energy and resource efficiency

German engagement in the Chinese environmental market has a long tradition and continues to develop. For example, Germany is the world leader in waste separation technologies, benefiting the Chinese circular economy.

Major German initiatives in China include eco-buildings, sustainable transportation, efficient water management, carbon-neutral economic zones etc. By sharing know-how and  technology with Germany, China can benefit from long term strategic planning on the sustainable use of key resources, energy and control.
