Green Buildings made in Germany event series – join econet china every Thursday in Shanghai!

The ‘Green Buildings made in Germany’ event series provides regular learning sessions on cutting-edge solutions and design ideas for green buildings, as well as many more exciting topics about sustainability. The events take place in Shanghai, every Thursday afternoon, at the German Energy Center & College.

With buildings consuming over 40% of China’s energy over their entire life cycle, and urbanization putting further strain on the country’s resources, energy efficiency in construction has been a key focus of the Chinese government since 2006.

The 12th Five Year Plan (2011-2015) will bring a further push to the industry, with carbon reduction goals putting further pressure on developers to build green and contribute to creating ‘low carbon’ cities. Germany having over 30 years of experience in fostering energy efficient construction, it is a natural step to increase Sino-German cooperation in this field: regular exchange of experience and networking are key to a successful dialog.

Since the beginning of March 2011, econet china, German Energy Center & College and BBS joined forces to provide a knowledge platform to all interested construction professionals: should you be a developer, an architect, a construction engineer or just have an interest in green building issues, you are welcome to join these weekly events! Since lectures take place either in English or in Chinese, they are designed to include all interested parties.

In May we will be welcoming experts from LUXOR Solar, Bosch Thermo Technology and Warema Sun Shading Systems (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.

On May 12th, Mr. Liu Xiaosong from LUXOR Solar will cover the topic of photovoltaics. Mr. Liu, Quality Control Director of LUXOR Solar, who has more than 6 years of experience in the PV industry and is an expert in the filed of PV technology, production and quality control. He will review solar power's contribution to today’s energy mix, provide a detailed introduction to photovoltaic systems and the production of PV modules in China. The main issue of quality will be discussed. At last, he will give a brief  overview of the market in China.

On the 19th, Bosch Thermo Technology will offer its vision for sustainable energy supply in buildings and on the 26th, Warema will talk about the benefits of sun-shading and its impact on energy efficiency.

The events take place at German Energy Center & College, where the participants can directly touch and feel German know-how as products and technologies.

Finally, the events are not only an opportunity to gain extra training about the newest building developments, but also a great opportunity to mingle with like-minded professionals: a diner follows each session to enable effective networking among peers.
